Malaysia: 480 gas stations install outdoor payment terminals

Global equipment provider Wayne Fueling Systems and local partner Titan Oil & Gas completed a new outdoor payment infrastructure for 480 state-owned PETRONAS gas stations in Malaysia.

The new payment infrastructure, based on the Wayne iX Pay secure payment platform and Fusion forecourt platform, has been implemented in gas stations across Central, Eastern and Northern Malaysia.

Upgrades of the new outdoor system for PETRONAS like media-ready screens, or secure Europay, MasterCard and Visa components, were modifications to already installed Wayne Vista and Global Star fuel dispensers in the network.

Wayne has been supplying PDB with dispensers since 1974 and its fuel pump installed base accounts for about half of its retail network.

“Following the upgrade, now all fuel pumps at PETRONAS Stations nationwide come with their own Outdoor Payment Terminals (OPTs), offering speed and convenience for customers who prefer to pay with their debit or credit cards,” said Shaharuddin Muhammad Sidek, Head of PETRONAS Retail Business.

He also added that customers will still be able to pay at the counter.
