Total is offering up to 30 minutes of free Wi-Fi service at over 260 gas stations that have restaurants or convenience stores in the country, according to South African tech site htxt.africa.

The service, in partnership with South African telecommunications giant Telkom, enables internet connection through a simple login mechanism. Beyond 30 minutes, the customer may opt to pay for a time extension package.

“Research shows a growing move to free access to Wi-Fi hotspots. Total grabbed the opportunity to deliver more convenience service options to its forecourt customers, in offering free WiFi,” said Jabulani Mabaso, manager of national retail and convenience at Total.
