Presidential candidate Ted Cruz works at convenience store

Last week Republican presidential candidate Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) took a day out from his campaigning to work behind the counter at the Casey’s General Store in Manly, Iowa.

Last update:

The visit was part of the National Association of Convenience Stores (NACS) In Store events, which has already got more than 30 members of Congress involved in firsthand experiences at local convenience stores.

Cruz spent time doing work at the counter, meeting the community and talking to voters about issues they raised, reported KIMT.com.

“I like to take the opportunity to just sit with the men and women of Iowa to give people the chance to look me in the eye, to ask the hard questions, and to have a real conversation,” Cruz said.

This event marks the first presidential candidate event of 2016. Both Democrats and Republicans have received invitations to participate in the NACS In Store events.

In a Republican Presidential Nomination race which Donald Trump reigned since the early stages, senator Ted Cruz´s popularity has shot up since November and is now on second position 14 points behind Trump, according to RealClear Politics.
