Under the agreement and in line with the company's sustainability goal, Republic Services will fuel its compressed natural gas (CNG) fleet with Clean Energy's Redeem™, a brand of RNG fuel derived from biogas.

The company aims to reduce its fleet greenhouse gas emissions by 3 percent by 2018.

"As the operator of the eighth largest vocational fleet in the country, we have a number of initiatives to reduce overall fuel usage, including our continued commitment to operating compressed natural gas (CNG)-powered trucks," said Pete Keller, vice president of recycling and sustainability, in a company release.

Republic operates a fleet of more than 2,500 CNG vehicles and 38 natural gas fueling stations in 20 states.
