Japanese investigators believe that on the morning of May 15 more than 100 people might have simultaneously carried out around 14,000 illegal withdrawals from Seven Bank ATMs using fake credit cards containing leaked account information from a South African bank.

The thieves were able to execute the grand theft in approximately two hours.

The police are coordinating with South African authorities through Interpol to probe the incident. They are also checking security cameras to identify the culprits.

According to the The Guardian, no arrest has been made and gang members may no longer be in Japan.
