Canada: Fuel shortages hit Petro-Canada gas stations

Western Canada is suffering fuel shortages in a number of gas stations due to the Alberta wildfire and an outage in the Edmonton refinery earlier this week.

Last update:

Petro-Canada´s fuelling network has been hit the hardest by the recent shortages. Gas stations started running dry last week in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and B.C. are now spreading to Winnipeg and northwestern Ontario.

The fires in Fort McMurray and the unplanned outage at the Edmonton refinery have forced Petro-Canada to keep its pumps shut, reported CBC News.

“We have a plan in place that will maintain supply at critical locations so as to minimize the impact on customers as much as possible," Petro-Canada said in a release.

The Suncor refinery in Edmonton produces around 140,000 barrels of oil every day, supplying to gas stations across the region.
