A team of DPR officials has visited several fuel stations in Bayelsa State following a warning last week to make the fuel retail outlets desist from selling above the approved price. This has led to the closing of five sites in Yenagoa, informs Daily Trust.

Among these stations were Sobaz, Emily and two NNPC outlets, all in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State’s capital. According to DPR, the stations sealed were selling far above the legal pump price.

“Actually we are out on a surveillance over the abrupt increase in pump price prevailing in the state. We have visited some stations and anyone we see selling above approved pump price we seal such station; and with the accompanying strident penalties”, declared the DPR Head of Operations, Ibinabo Jack, to Daily Trust. Ibinabo also added that “some of them were under dispensing. We discovered that some of the pump was faulty and we will sealed them up”.

The DIR has also urged others outlets to lower prices or face sanctions.
