The company published an official statement establishing its position regarding the European military crisis.

Last update:

Following bp and Shell’s statements regarding the Russian invasion of Ukraine’s soil, TotalEnergies has issued an official statement condemning the aggression and confirmed it will cease to provide capital for future projects in the country.

“TotalEnergies condemns Russia's military aggression against Ukraine, which has tragic consequences for the population and threatens Europe. TotalEnergies expresses its solidarity with the Ukrainian people who are suffering the consequences and with the Russian people who will also suffer the consequences,” the company communicated in an official press release last Tuesday.

The company has confirmed it will provide fuel to the Ukrainian authorities and aid its refugees across the continent. In addition, it will endorse the sanctions put in place by Europe and confirm its implementation “regardless of the consequences” on its activities in Russia.

“TotalEnergies will no longer provide capital for new projects in Russia,” the company confirmed.

The news comes after the crisis erupted last week when the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin announced the advance of the Russian military over the cities of Donetsk and Luhansk. Since then, several oil companies have confirmed to have ceased their activities in the country following the sanctions officialized by the European authorities.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian service station brands have limited their refuel capabilities in order to prioritize military and official operations in the territory.
