Last update:

Q1 Energie AG and GasCom-Equipment GmbH have partnered to launch a new joint venture by the name of Beyond Fuels GmbH. The initiative is another step for the partnership of both firms that will help optimise the purchase and trade of sustainable gases and fuels.

The two companies have already been working together in partnership since 2020 to decarbonize heavy-duty transport in the long term. Q1 and GasCom jointly implemented five Q1 LNG refueling stations 24/7 Express to date with further sites to follow.

"With Beyond Fuels, we are strengthening our activities in the field of sustainable energies. At Q1, we want to offer a climate-neutral product portfolio by 2035," said Martin Hoffschröer, Head of Purchasing & Tank Farms and Head of Sustainable Energies at Q1.

With its Sustainable Energies business unit, the energy supplier aims to shape the mobility of the future and already operates nearly 50 charging stations at more than 30 locations and five LNG refuelling stations to this end. In addition, Q1 identifies e-fuels and hydrogen as further future carriers.

GasCom contributes access to a liquefaction plant for converting bio-methane into bio-LNG with a capacity of 50,000 t per year to the purchasing company. In addition, the firm has expertise in the areas of virtual pipelines (bio-methane, LNG, CO2, etc.), realisation and technical operation of LNG/CNG refuelling stations, island supply systems, etc.

"I see the establishment of the joint purchasing company as a business safeguard for a green future with one hundred percent CO2-neutral fuels," added Norbert Scholz, Managing Partner of GasCom.

Both Hoffschröer and Scholz will jointly manage Beyond Fuels GmbH.
