Circle K has accelerated the expansion of charging infrastructure for heavy traffic in Sweden. A new set of 20 charging points adapted for heavy traffic, with an output of 360 kW, have been opened at five strategically selected stations across important routes for transport.

Most of the stations that are being equipped with charging infrastructure also feature amenities such as food service, beverages, shops and restrooms. There is also security parking that serves as a daytime rest area.

These new locations are financed by the Swedish Energy Agency within the framework of the Regional Electrification Pilots for Heavy Transport.

“It is with great pride that I can say that we keep a high pace in our expansion, even though the number of electric trucks today is quite small. The reason for this is that we want to be ahead of the development and thus provide conditions for the transport industry to dare to switch to electric power,” says Lennart Olsson, Responsible for heavy traffic charging at Circle K.

Earlier this year, Circle K opened 14 charging points for heavy traffic around the country. This means that the company now has 34 dedicated charging points for the transport industry. The brand aims to operate approximately 90 charging points.

In addition, Circle K expects to be able to open 2 MCS (megawatt chargers) this year within the E-charge project, which is partly funded by Vinnova, and also provide hydrogen at selected locations.
