EV fast charging solutions provider Kempower has signed a contract to deliver DC fast charging solutions to the energy transition company St1. St1 aims to increase fast charging availability and make the charging experience more user-friendly in the Nordics. This summer St1 opened a new future-oriented energy station outside Kristiansand, Norway. This is the first of many stations in this collaboration where Kempower provides its DC charging solutions.

With the vision to become the leading producer and seller of CO2-aware energy, the Nordic energy company St1 researches, develops, produces and invests in the energy transition to be able to provide its customers with CO2-aware energy. St1 is also owner of Shell’s brand license rights for the retail business in Norway, Sweden and Finland.

Kempower will become one of the DC fast charging solutions providers for St1. The first project in this far-reaching partnership was establishing EV fast charging at a new 24-hour operating energy station named Shell Lonelier just outside the Norwegian city of Kristiansand in the summer of 2023.

St1’s energy station features 16 high power Kempower Satellite charging points and solar panels on the roof. In addition, it also offers liquid fuels, to cater for all types of traffic that passes through the busy area while reserving space for the construction of further sustainable energy solutions in the future. Additional facilities include outdoor exercise equipment, a dog park, seating areas, and a large rest area for bus and truck drivers.

“We are delighted that St1 has chosen us as its partner. By offering EV fast charging access on a large scale to fleets and passenger cars, we can push the region’s e-mobility transition even further forward. Our dynamic charging systems are built with charging availability in mind, meaning EV drivers using the Shell Lonelier station can be confident that they will have a convenient and comfortable charging experience, wherever their journey may take them”, stated Kempower’s Director of Sales, North Europe, Erik Kanerva.

There are 1270 St1 and Shell branded retail stations and gas filling points in Finland, Sweden and Norway.
