English Español Orlen saves 100,000 surprise food bags in Germany

The retailer celebrated the milestone reached in collaboration with Too Good To Go since its partnership started back in 2021.

Last update:

Orlen Deutschland has already saved 100,000 surprise food bags as partner of the Too Good To Go initiative since 2021.

The social impact company uses its eponymous app to help keep unsold food from being thrown out. More than 200 Orlen and star service stations offer so-called ‘surprise bags’, packed with surplus bistro or shop products and sold at a reduced price.

This collaboration allows the company and its petrol station tenants to help reduce food waste and raise awareness about this issue. It also saves resources and puts less strain on the environment, while at the same time taking on social responsibility.

Customers simply reserve and pay for the surprise bag in the app and also receive a digital receipt there. The bag can then be collected at the station at an agreed pick-up time.

Based in Elmshorn, Orlen Deutschland GmbH currently operates over 600 star and Orlen forecourts across the German market and is one of the ten largest fuel retailers in the country.
