English Español Shurgard, LEAP24 to build 70 fast charging stations in the Netherlands and UK

Both companies aim to transform Shurgard locations from storage facilities to last-mile mobility hubs.

Last update:

Shurgard Self-Storage and LEAP24 have joined forces to develop public fast-charging stations at Dutch and UK Shurgard locations.

Both companies have partnered to achieve emission-free last-mile delivery and mobility hubs. This will result in a combination of their expertise to promote sustainable mobility and meet the growing demand for electric vehicle charging (EV) infrastructure.

The contract will eventually electrify 46 fast-charging points in the Netherlands and 24 locations in and around London, United Kingdom.

"The cooperation between Shurgard and LEAP24 gives a unique impetus to the realization of zero emission mobility hubs. The unique combination of flexible storage, and electric charging at perfect locations is a key ingredient for the success of zero emission zones in many Dutch cities and the development of our network in and around London," said Pelle Schlichting, Founder of LEAP24.

The charging site will consist of a public fast-charging station with two spacious docking bays and a 240 kW double fast charger that will recharge vehicles to 80% in about 30 minutes. Each location is open 24 hours a day, publicly accessible and all common charging cards are accepted.

Although the contract was signed recently, the first fast-charging stations are expected to be operational during 2024, marking concrete steps Shurgard and LEAP24 are taking towards sustainable mobility.
