English Español Lidl opens new fast-charging plaza for trucks in Netherlands

As its second charging location for e-trucks, the retailer aims to go all-electric by 2030.

Last update:

Lidl has opened its second fast-charging plaza for electric trucks in the Netherlands, as part of its efforts to go all-electric by 2030.

The opening of a new fast charging plaza is a logical step for the chain, as its electric fleet continues to be expanded. By making timely preparations and through intensive cooperation with grid operators, logistics partners and colleagues, this fast charging plaza was able to open recently, despite challenges with grid congestion.

The outgoing Minister of Climate and Energy Rob Jetten opened the sustainable location at the Lidl’s distribution center in Oosterhout.

"With a range of more than 300 km, electric trucks are a sustainable alternative and offer an ideal solution to guarantee store deliveries in future emission-free zones. Trucks, by using fast charging stations, have short downtime and can be operated at maximum capacity. Now is the time to think about tomorrow's store deliveries," said Albrecht de Glee, head of logistics at Lidl Netherlands.

In the future, Lidl also plans to offer businesses the opportunity to use its fast-charging plazas.
