Japanese Seven & i Holdings has announced plans to grow its 7-Eleven convenience store chain throughout the world.

On Tuesday, the company stated that it would be accelerating its entry into Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and Africa. The firm aims to increase the total number of stores operating worldwide by 100,000 in 2030, which involves being present in 30 countries, 10 more than where it currently operates.

These goals are part of a bigger restructuring process that includes the sale of supermarket assets that have been underperforming in recent times.

As reported by Reuters, Seven has been closing down several Ito-Yokado supermarkets, apart from retiring its apparel stores and selling its Sogo & Seibu department store unit. In addition, the company is expected to invest over $2 billion in acquiring convenience stores in Australia and the United States.
