The car wash was founded in 2013 by John d’Eri, whose 24-year-old son Andrew has autism.

John understood that unemployment would be one of the difficulties his son would have to go through once he gets old. This is because society doesn’t view people with autism as individuals with different sets of skills, according to an ABC News report.

“Typically people with autism are really good at structured tasks, following processes, attention to detail,” Andrew’s brother Tom D’Eri said in video on YouTube.

Such skills, Tom added, make them the best employees a company can have.

The pioneering business addresses unemployment among individuals with autism and empowers them by giving them financial independence and building their confidence.

It also raises community awareness of the potentials of people with autism.

"They come to us with very little purpose and very little hope for their future. But once they start working with us they start getting positive reinforcement of doing a good job, a customer being happy, getting a tip, that really starts to open them up," Tom further said.
