Indonesia’s Pertamina looks abroad for gas station network expansion
State-owned oil firm Pertamina plans to build gas stations in Timor Leste and has also expressed interest in supplying fuel to Myanmar.
As reported by Katadata, Pertamina plans to expand its business in neighbouring country Timor Leste by either building Pertamina-branded gas stations or engaging in a joint venture with Timor Leste’s government-owned companies.
Vice President of Fuel Retail Marketing Afandi said that Pertamina has been operating a fuel terminal in Timor Leste’s capital Dili and has been supplying fuel to the country’s gas stations.
A government contract to supply oil fuels is what the company is also seeking in Myanmar, reported Tempo.
According to General Manager of Pertaminas southern Sumatra Regional Marketing Operation Herman M. Zaini, if the company won the Myanmar government tender, it will construct 1,360 public fuel filling stations in cooperation with state company Myanmar Petroleum Products Enterprise.
