Thailand issues new guidelines to improve gas station safety

Thailand's Department of Energy Business has warned all gas station operators to enforce stricter safety protocols for their clients in order to prevent fires.

Last update:

A number of incidents related to fires at fuel stations have pushed Mitoon Kulcharoenwirat, the General Director of the Department of Energy Business, to encourage gas stations to improve their safety standards.

To prevent more fires from happening, Kulcharoenwirat issued a new set of safety guidelines that all fuel retailers will have to implement, reported That PBS.

Gas station workers will have to ensure that all clients switch off their engines when fuelling up, that people do not smoke and that mobile phones are not used.
