Quebec's Couche-Tard mulls selling marijuana
Alimentation Couche-Tard is interested in selling marijuana in Quebec in the event a proposed cannabis-related legislation is passed in the province, reports The Globe and Mail.
The Canadian convenience store network has hired a lobbyist to ensure its involvement in the prospective marijuana-distribution system in Quebec.
Marie-Eve Bedard, former chief of staff to ex-Quebec health minister Yves Bolduc, was registered as lobbyist to work on behalf of the c-store.
The Quebec government, reports The Toronto Star, is considering legislating marijuana distribution and will start holding a series of public consultations this month.
Canada's federal government, on the other hand, had introduced a bill in April that will allow Canadians 18 years and older to buy and cultivate marijuana, but the bill has not yet become a law.
