PTT Philippines earns nearly $40,000 from ‘five-star’ toilet

PTT Philippines, a subsidiary of Thai state-owned PTT, has raised $38,400 (2 million pesos) from a luxury toilet it operates at its Subic-Clark–Tarlac Expressway (SCTEx) fuel station, reports Business Mirror.

Called Restroom 20, it is described as a luxurious, air-conditioned ‘five-star’ public pay toilet.

It has a lounge where customers could relax and stay for a while especially if they are in a long travel, according to the company website.

Not only convenient, the posh restroom is also environment-friendly as it saves 1.5 megawatt per month thanks to an installed solar roof.

The earnings the fuel company has raised since the toilet started operations two years ago, in addition, are donated to local charities.

“Our customers deserve more than what we offer in our pump...There must also be a good corporate citizenship, which we value in PTT,” said PTT Philippines President and CEO Sukanya Seriyothin in an interview with Business Mirror.

Another Restroom 20 at PTT Lucena branch has already supported local groups in Quezon Province.

PTT currently has 122 petrol stations in the Philippine islands of Luzon and Central Visayas.
