The last statistics shared by the European used car marketplace cover the sale of second-hand diesel cars in the present year, with an increase of 3% in sales at European level and of 6% in the Italian market compared with the same period of 2017.

New national regulations on cars emissions, developed differently for traffic in cities and regions, may be having a diverse impact on consumers behaviours in the Italian market. The same trend would apply at international level, with a considerable amount of used diesel cars being shipped from Germany to Eastern markets such as Poland, Croatia or Lithuania. In these countries, the registration of this type of vehicles is doubling.

“Diesel consumes less and lasts longer than petrol”, argue BCA experts. “If a driver does not have the need to go across long distances out of the city, he or she will rather drive diesel cars in the short-term. The figures confirm this choice”.

Cross-borders used cars auction in the European market represents nearly 40% of all these type of sales. Italy increased its second-hand cars exports by 56% compared to the same time frame last year; in the case of France, Germany and Denmark, the number goes up to 60%.

BCA is a European used car marketplace operating across every link of the post-factory automotive value chain, providing physical and digital solutions at scale, whether that is the manufacturer, the dealer, the vehicle financier or the end consumer.
