Spanish Association of Petroleum Product Operators appoints new president

Carrillo de Albornoz takes over from Luis Aires, who moves to Latin America to lead Pan American Energy Group's downstream business.

The Assembly of the Spanish Association of Petroleum Product Operators (AOP) has appointed Juan Antonio Carrillo de Albornoz, executive director of refining at Repsol, as its new president.

Carrillo de Albornoz takes over from Luis Aires, who is moving to Latin America to be in charge of Pan American Energy Group's downstream business.

Carrillo de Albornoz, who until now was AOP's first vice-president, will lead the organisation for the next two years.

In this role, he will contribute to the promotion of the energy transition within the Spanish refining and distribution sector, and will be in permanent dialogue with the public administration and the representatives of the industrial and energy sector for the development of the Strategy for the Evolution towards Ecofuels, according to AOP's press release.

The appointment of Carrillo de Albornoz has led to a minor reorganisation of the Board of Directors, with Javier Antúnez taking the position of first vice-president. Francisco Quintana has also been appointed second vice-president.
