Aldi is looking to open 50 new stores in Spain by 2024, consolidating its presence in the Canary Islands and reaching new markets.

The chain is looking to expand in the northern region of the country, with openings planned in the Basque Country, Galicia, Cantabria and Castilla y León. At the same time, it will strengthen its presence in Andalusia, Madrid, Valencia and Catalonia, with more than half of the expansion planned for this year.

In addition, Aldi will reaffirm its growth in other regions such as Extremadura, Murcia or the Balearic Islands.

"We maintain Aldi's commitment to growth in Spain and to offering families a quality, simple shopping option at the best possible price. Years ago we activated an ambitious expansion plan that we are maintaining and that is allowing us to increase our presence in Spain in a continuous and sustained manner," said Valentín Lumbreras, CEO of Aldi.

These new stores will be accompanied by the inauguration of a new distribution center in Miranda de Ebro (Burgos), during the first months of the year. The new warehouse will have more than 40,000 m2 and will support the supply of stores in the northern part of the country.

On the other hand, Aldi's new distribution center in Sagunt (Valencia), inaugurated at the end of 2023, will be fully operational during the month of February.
