Last update:

South Korean convenience store chain Emart24 is expanding to Cambodia with its first location set to be opened in June.

As reported by The Korea Bizwire, the move is part of a wider global expansion strategy. The chain expects to open a total of 100 locations in the country within the next five years. The brand is part of the Shinsegae Group, operator of department stores, large discount store chains and other retail businesses.

This announcement comes after the master franchise agreement signed between Emart24 and Saihan Partners, a joint venture between Saison Brother Holding Co. and Hanlim Architecture Group. The agreement was signed to execute the chain’s expansion across the Southeast Asian market.

Currently, the company’s international operations encompass 48 convenience stores in Malaysia and three in Singapore. Both nations’ locations are under master franchise agreements with local companies.

Initially, Emart24 expects to grow its Asian presence and then continue to strengthen its oversea footprint.
