Brazilian fuel consumption rose 5.3% in 2014 from previous year

Sales of fuel in the Brazilian market reached a total of 144.6 billion liters which represented a 5.3% increase compared with the previous year, according to official Brazilian figures made available February 10 by state agency ANP.

There was a 2.5% increase in sales of “diesel B” in 2014 compared with the previous year reaching a total of 60 billion liters, it added. Meantime, biodiesel sales surged 16.5% to 3.4 billion liters, it added.

“That increase was the result of the addition to the biodiesel mix in July 2014 of 6% biodiesel and then from 6% to 7% in November.
Gasoline C sales reached 44.4 billion liters in 2014 or a 7.1% increase from the previous year.

Ethanol consumption rose 12.3% in 2014 to 21.4 billion liters.
