English Español Cepsa taps new green methanol storage partnership

The company has teamed up with Evos to store the fuel produced at its facilities in the ports of Algeciras and Rotterdam.

Last update:

Cepsa has signed an agreement with energy storage company Evos to store its green methanol, which will be destined to its partner's facilities in Algeciras and Rotterdam.

The collaboration facilitates logistics for the transportation of green hydrogen products between strategic ports in Spain and the Netherlands. It also provides for the storage of green ammonia at Evos' facilities in Algeciras.

Both companies will study the logistics of biofuels, non-biological renewable fuel and hydrogen carriers at other terminals in the Evos network in northwest Europe.

"This alliance with Evos provides crucial storage infrastructure that will enable the flow of green methanol produced in southern Spain to northern Europe, reinforcing the viability of our large-scale green hydrogen projects," said Maarten Wetselaar, CEO of Cepsa.

Cepsa together with its partners is promoting the Andalusian Green Hydrogen Valley. The facility includes two green hydrogen plants, a green methanol plant and a green ammonia plant.

In turn, the firm already has an alliance with the Port of Rotterdam to establish a green hydrogen corridor from the Port of Algeciras.
