“We attracted the investor, who is a Jordanian running a company in the Silicon Valley. The investor opened a company in Amman, hired employees and is bringing new know-how and technology to Jordan,” USAID Jordan Competiveness Programme (JCP) chief of party Wissam Rabadi said in an interview with The Jordan Times.

The company in charge of installing the modern solar facilities will be Net Energy, after signing a deal with the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM), reported Albawaba.

The GAM is pursing policies to protect the environment. Recently, they signed a deal with Noor Jordan for Transport — Taxi Moumayaz to work with hybrid cars. They expect to acquire 300 hybrid vehicles and up to 100 electric cars for this purpose.

King Abdullah II of Jordan announced that the Jordanian royal vehicle fleet would be formed by electric vehicles during the World Economic Forum on the Middle East in Amman last May.

In late June, The Royal Hashemite Court of the Jordan made an order for 150 electric Renault Zoe vehicles in an effort to turn country towards clean, alternative energy.
