UAE government to drop credit card charge at gas stations

Gas stations in the UAE will stop charging drivers Dh2 ($0.54) for using credit cards to fuel-up their vehicles.

According to newspaper Emarat Al Yorum, the Higher Committee for Consumer Protection is about to announce the drop of the Dh2 charge on bank cards used at gas station.

The cancellation of the fees has been coordinated by the Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Energy, banks and local economic departments, reported Emirates 24/7.

After the measure is taken gas stations will be closely monitored to make sure they comply with new regulations.

In the case of the e-Gas cards used to acquire LPG cylinders in Abu Dhabi, ADNOC Distribution announced yesterday an additional extension of  the deadline to renew Rahal cards to Sebtember 30, 2015.
