Global fuel equipment manufacturer and servicer Gilbarco Veeder-Root will be celebrating its 150th anniversary this year.

"We are proud that the majority of leading retailers in the business have been long-time customers and consider it recognition of our commitment to this great industry," says Gilbarco Veeder-Root President, Martin Gafinowitz. "We look forward to providing outstanding fuelling technology and services for another 150 years."

In 1865, Charles Gilbert and John Barker founded the Gilbert and Barker Manufacturing Company in Springfield, Massachusetts, launching their original invention which converted crude petroleum distillates into gas vapour used to light buildings.

Gilbert and Barker would not manufacture their first gas pump until 1910, called the T-1. According to the company, later on Gilbarco would be responsible for major innovations such as the first automated pump and the first electronic pump.

Present at the recent NACS Show 2015, Gilbarco exhibited its latest products and technologies, including their new ‘order at the pump’ concept which allows customers to order food and other items from the pump.

“We are trying to focus on the trends around food services - providing solutions inside the store and out at the pump to help customers and add to the offering. It is a growing trend everywhere right now. Doing features like the ‘order at the pump’ help that trend,” explained Jessica Sebok, Technical Product Manager, to PetrolPlaza at the NACS Show.

Besides several commemorative events taking place in US, Gilbarco Veeder-Root will be developing several initiatives in Europe to celebrate their 150th anniversary with its customers and associates.
