Vivo Energy expands Kenyan depot to support growing retail business

Vivo Energy Kenya has opened two more fuel tanks at the Mombasa depot, adding an extra 14 million litre capacity.

Last update:

The new tanks will increase the company´s storage capacity to 22 million litres, with Vivo Energy explaining they are responding to a higher fuel demand in the region, reported Capital FM.

As their fuel retailing branch expands in Kenya – in the last two years they have raised the number of gas stations from 121 to 158 – Vivo Energy requires more supply and storage facilities.

Vivo Energy Kenya Managing Director Polycarp Igathe said that a bigger fuel storage capacity would aid their retailing expansion plans in the country, as well as fuel supply for nearby countries such as Uganda, reported Capital FM.

Motor fuel demand in Kenya is expected to increase by 31% in the period between 2014 and 2020 due to economic growth, improved roads and higher ratio of car per person.
