USA: Low fuel prices for busy summer season, says AAA
Pump prices to remain low for what could be a “record” summer driving season in the United States, officials from the American Auto Association (AAA) say.
The motorist association expects higher-than-normal gasoline demand across the country during the summer driving season. U.S. refineries are working at a high rate in preparation for the fuel demand.
Pump prices are also expected to remain low. During Memorial Day national average was at $2.32 per gallon, down 42 cents from last year´s holiday – the lowest in a decade.
The country´s top five most expensive markets currently are California ($2.81), Hawaii ($2.70), Alaska ($2.61), Washington ($2.60) and Washington, D.C. ($2.51).
Meanwhile, the cheapest gas can be found in Mississippi ($2.09), Texas ($2.09), South Carolina ($2.10), Arkansas ($2.11) and Louisiana ($2.11).
