Indonesia: Pertamina offers free gas if customer reads Quran
State-owned oil company Pertamina observes the holy month of Ramadan in Indonesia by giving free fuel to those customers who will read the Quran. The Southeast Asian country has the highest number of Muslim population in the world.
Pertamina has set up prayer rooms at its gas stations where Indonesian Muslims can read a chapter of Islam’s holy book and get free two liters of fuel as a reward, reported Asharq Al-Awsat.
Two liters is enough to fill up half-a-tank of a motorcycle - the country’s most common mode of transporation.
According to a company release, the campaign, which will run until the end of the holy month, is Pertamina’s contribution to encouraging people to recite the Quran. Activities that promote the importance of charity have also been organized.
