Tanzania shifts to natural gas
Tanzanians have been encouraged to convert their diesel-powered vehicles to natural gas to reduce cost as well as carbon emissions.
The conversion might be expensive, costing at least $1,000, but many Tanzanians have already adapted the more environment-friendly source of energy, according to africanews.com.
Sixty buses of the country’s Bus Rapid Transit have also made their engines compatible to petrol and natural gas.
To address problems of inadequate infrastructure, Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC) official Ismail Naleja announced plans to build 25 new gas stations,
The government of the natural gas-rich country has already taken the lead by starting a 65-million dollar project that aims to supply 30,000 households with Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) for cooking and power 8,000 cars in Dar es Salaam.
