Oklahoma achieves CNG stations target

OnCue will open a new CNG station this fall, achieving the goal of having a CNG station every 100 miles of Oklahoma's interstate highways by 2015.

Last update:

Several years ago Oklahoma passed a bill with the goal of installing a compressed natural gas station every 100 miles of interstate highway. OnCue has opened 18 CNG locations in the state, with two more opening soon. Another six CNG filling station are under construction, reported Stillwater Newspress.

“We feel like the heavy duty trucking industry is going to convert in a big way to CNG over the next decade,” said Scott Minton, CNG business development manager for OnCue Express.

According to Minton, as truck fleets increasingly move towards CNG, the state seeks a larger presence of CNG fuelling stations due to the stability of its price, with no danger of major fluctuations. The price of CNG is currently at $1.69, and has remained at that rate for the last 18 months.

CNG is also greener and less contaminating, and it is 100% American, explained Minton.

The new compressed natural gas station will open along the I-35, at the Billings exit.
