Dallas police find Bluetooth-connected skimming devices at gas stations

Police in Dallas, Texas, have recently discovered criminals could be using Bluetooth devices to steal credit card information at gas pumps.

Last update:

Tech-savvy criminals in Texas have installed Bluetooth-equipped skimming machines at gas pumps in at least five Exxon stations in North Dallas, reports Fox 4 News.

“They're not visible from the outside of the gas pump and appear to be made by the same person or same group,” said Lieutenant Tony Crawford, commander of the Dallas Police Financial Investigations Unit, to the TV channel.

Police said it was “scary” how the criminals used sophisticated technology with a Bluetooth connection, which means that the suspect does not have to physically go back to the pump to retrieve the information.
