US: Sheetz first c-store to sell wine in Pennsylvania
A Sheetz store in Shippensburg became the first convenience store to sell wine in Pennsylvania, according to National Association of Convenience Stores website nacsonline.com.
The first sale of a bottle of wine at a convenience store was officiated on October 4 by Sheetz Board Director Louie Sheetz together with Speaker of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives Mike Turzai, Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board Chairman Tim Holden, and House Liquor Committee Chairman Adam Harris.
Sheetz has been an advocate of alcoholic beverages sales reforms in the state. In August, a law that expands the types of businesses that can sell beer, wine and liquor took effect.
The c-store chain enforces a 100% proof-of-age policy requesting customers to present an ID first before allowing the purchase of alcohol.
