UK: Fuel retailer Rontec appoints new managing director

Rontec, one of the UK’s biggest roadside retail groups, has appointed Giles Taylor as managing director.

Last update:

The appointment of Giles Taylor as new managing director of Rontec follows current MD Bill Ahearn’s retirement after more than 40 years, reports Retail Times.

After more than 25 years in the business, Taylor has been promoted from his current role as Rontec’s operations director.

“I have worked with Bill for more than 40 of my 50 years in roadside retail and am grateful to him for his hard work, proud of the business we have built together and pleased that he will remain on the Board as a non-executive director,” says Gerald Ronson, CEO of Rontec.

Under the new structure, which is effective from 1 November 2016, Ronson remains chairman and chief executive, with Ian Pogue as group finance director and Richard Benson as property director.

Rontec is a big player in the UK forecourt industry, operating over 240 forecourts across England and Wales.
