Sheetz, QuikTrip among 20 best workplaces in retail
Two U.S. convenience and fuel retailers, Sheetz and QuikTrip, have made it into Fortune's “20 best workplaces in retail” ranking.
The list which judges the companies with the best work environment for their employees, organized by Fortune and Great Place to Work, has seen Sheetz and QuikTrip take 8th and 9th place, respectively.
According to Fortune, Sheetz offers generous bonus schemes which make its 15,000 employees feel enthusiastic and appreciated – in 2013, the company paid out over $40 million in bonus money. The convenience store chain also recognizes workers with awards at the end of every year and various other benefits.
Meanwhile, QuikTrip, which has 20,342 employees and 760 stores, offers bonuses for length of service at the company, with $5,000 in cash for those who hit the 20-year mark; organizes an annual meeting with CEO Chet Cadieux and workers, where he hands out special gifts, while also offering on-site health services, including breast cancer, prostate cancer, skin cancer and blood pressure screenings.
