USA: Fuel prices hit decade low record

Motorists in the United States are enjoying the cheapest fuel since 2005 with a national average of $2.31 per gallon yesterday.

Last update:

The cheap fuel has allowed drivers to save up and spend in other goods. According to the AAA, consumers have saved at the pump around $20 billion so far this year in comparison to 2015.

The AAA also expects this driving season to brake records in terms of fuel demand a number of miles travelled by cars.

“Gas prices have fallen for 16 consecutive days, and if the market can remain adequately supplied drivers are likely to continue paying prices unseen for the summer months in more than a decade,” writes Michael Green, Director of AAA Public Relations.

The West Coast currently has the highest prices in the market with California ($2.90) and Hawaii ($2.79) leading the way, while the happiest drivers can be found in South Carolina ($2.00), Mississippi ($2.06) and Arkansas ($2.07).
