Disruptive technology is hot topic at next Retail's Best

Some 250 of the most influential independent convenience store owners and forecourt operators, representing around 3,000 sites between them, will come together for the next in the series of Retail’s Best on 21 March to meet with pioneering suppliers and industry experts to discuss the opportunities provided by disruptive technology. The event takes place at Chateau Impney, Worcestershire and is being organised by entrepreneurial retailer and forecourt operator Moiz Vas.

Partnering this business networking event for the first time are four global ‘giants’ in the world of convenience retailing, motor fuel and vehicle electrification:

  • Booker Retail Partners– exclusive symbol group partner
  • BP Chargemaster – exclusive electric vehicle charging partner
  • BP Retail – exclusive motor fuel partner
  • TLM Technologies – exclusive EPOS partner

Vas explains: “As retailers and forecourt operators, we need to be ready to maximise these opportunities and this is what Retail’s Best is all about.  No company is immune from digital disruption.  But for retailers, digital technologies that automate, accelerate and enhance the customer experience are a powerful ally.”

The panel discussion will be led by Michael O’Loughlin, managing director of independent forecourt operator Motor Fuel Group (MFG).  They will explore how digital is disrupting the retail experience and how it has the potential to improve both the customer experience and revolutionise the retailer’s business model.

Says O’Loughlin: “This is an event that’s uniquely run ‘by retailers, for retailers’, so we get to discuss the real issues that affect us as a business, and that’s hugely beneficial. This year’s debate on disruptive technology is something the industry needs.  I will endeavour to get some answers on this hot topic.”

O’Loughlin will be joined by some influential convenience and forecourt operators along with industry experts Samsung Electronics, in partnership with M-Cube and Velocity WW, pioneers in data driven digital display and the IGD, the research and training charity that provides insight for the food and grocery industry.

Retail’s Best is proving a magnet for more and more key people from the sector to attend each year.  It’s an invitation-only business networking event, including panel discussions, dinner and exhibition aimed at leading forecourt and convenience retailers who want to grow their business
