Enermex plans to install more than 1,500 portable gas stations in Mexico over the next five years, reports El Financiero. With a size of approximately 14 meters long and 5 meters high, portable stations could store between 35,000 and 45,000 liters of fuel.

The Mexican company will preferably install the stations in rural areas, where space is limited or there is a lack of fuelling options.

"They are mobile gas stations that are already prepared. They will be brought in a trailer, lowered and installed," explained Enermex President, Julio Jáuregui.

This type of gas stations would offer lower gasoline prices, according to Jáuregui, because they run on energy from solar panels and have automatic dispatch.

While a current service station requires an investment of between 20 and 30 million Mexican pesos ($1.1 million to $1.5 million), the price of portable gas stations is between 6 and 9 million pesos ($305,000 to 460,000).

Enermex will invest between $150 and $200 million dollars in the construction of a plant in Mexico where all portable gas stations will be produced. Once built, they will be deployed through agreements with gas operators and private investors. Both must have appropriate land and obtain permits from the Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE) and the Agency for Safety, Energy and Environment (ASEA).
