Co-op has undertaken an extensive programme of works in United Kingdom with the overhauling of four petrol stations following a multi-million-pound investment, reports UK media. The revamping has extended convenience stores on site to create a combined 6,500sq ft of additional retail space.

Co-op acquired the former Pearce’s Garage site in Drakewells, Gunnislake, in Cornwall, developing a new purpose-built 2,250sq ft convenience store.

The retailer also launched a new petrol fuel station with a purpose-built 2,700sq ft convenience store following a £2.75m investment in Pontyates, Carmarthenshire. This site also features an increased focus on hot, fresh food, free-from and vegan products, ready meals, beverages, Costa coffee, everyday essentials, as well as Amazon lockers and customer car parking, The Co-op’s existing petrol station in Coppenhall, Crewe, also had its convenience store renovated more than doubling its size.

Co-op’s petrol station and store in Roundhay, Leeds, also re-opened last week following a revamp.

“The sites have all been transformed following major investment, and all have the Co-op’s new look and feel," said national fuels manager at Co-op, Eddie Jenkinson. “A petrol filling station is a local hub – providing the food and fuel needs for communities with extended stores to offer greater convenience and choice for consumers shopping closer to where they live or work.”
