United States’ city of Albuquerque is expanding public green commute by adding a new compressed natural gas station by alternative industry leader Trillium to refuel its fleet of buses, according to a press release.

The new station marks the start of a 20-year partnership between Trillium and Albuquerque, where Trillium will build and maintain the CNG location. Construction of the new station will begin in October this year.

This will be the second CNG station in New Mexico for Love's Travel Stops, the parent company of Trillium. Its existing station, located on Interstate 40, serves heavy-duty transit customers on the westside of Albuquerque.

Albuquerque's fleet currently has 41 CNG buses, but the station could service up to 101 CNG buses by 2032. If the city chooses to increase their fleet further, Trillium's design allows for an additional CNG compressor to accommodate expansions.

Trillium, a member of the Love's Family of Companies, specializes in designing, building and operating alternative fueling solutions. Trillium operates over 200 alternative fueling stations nationwide. Combined, Love's Travel Stops and Trillium own nearly 70 public-access CNG facilities.
