OKQ8, Skellefteå Kraft and Volvo Trucks are now continuing their investment in the electrification of heavy road transport with a new super-fast charging station at Volvo Trucks' dealer Lidbil Trucks facility in Västra Götaland, Sweden.

Located in  the city of Lidköping, the site is equipped with two super-fast chargers and expanded the initiative’s network up to 41 charging stations in total. The companies aim to establish one of Sweden's largest networks of public charging stations for heavy traffic.

E-mobility infrastructure represents a key aspect in the transformation of the transport sector, as it is expected that 70% of new heavy-duty truck sales will consist of battery electric vehicles by 2030.

“The transport industry accounts for about 30% of Sweden's total carbon dioxide emissions and we are therefore convinced that increased opportunities for charging heavy transport are an important key to accelerating the transition,” said Helen Axelsson, Director of B2B Sales at OKQ8.

The new facility is available for all heavy vehicles regardless of manufacturer, but also for passenger cars, with both chargers capable of achieving an output of 350kW.
