Repsol and Nissan have opened a new fast-charging point for EVs located at the oil company’s service station in Elche, Alicante. The new 50 kW installation is equipped to allow the recharging of an EV in about 25-30 minutes, depending on its battery size. In addition, all owners of a Nissan electric vehicle will enjoy a 50% discount on the rate at this new charging point and throughout Repsol's public electric charging network.

"This inauguration of a new charging point demonstrates Repsol's commitment to electric mobility and reinforces our leadership in fast charging points at service stations in Spain. It also consolidates our position as a multi-energy company, a leader in mobility and committed to the goal of achieving zero net emissions by 2050, being the first company in the sector to adopt this ambitious goal," said Carlos Bermúdez, Repsol's Electric Mobility Manager.

The new EV charging point has the standard connectors established by the European Union installed, so any vehicle, both 100% electric and plug-in hybrid, can recharge at this point. The standard for charging in alternating current is Type 2 or Mennekes, and in direct current is CCS-Combo, and this charger has these connectors.

Both firms celebrated the opening with an event that gathered several of its representatives such as Bermúdez, Xavi Pons, Infrastructure Manager for Nissan Iberia, and Esther Díez Valero, Councilor for Sustainable Mobility, Environment and Traffic of the City of Elche.

Repsol is working on an ambitious public charging infrastructure deployment plan, which involves the provision of more than 1,000 fast and ultra-fast charging points by the end of 2022, which would mean one point every 50 kilometers.
