Avia equipped several of its service stations in Poland with new photovoltaic installations in Poland. The brand upgraded its locations in Zakopane, Gorzków, Puławy, Chelmek and Jastrzębie Zdrój. The deployment of this technology is part of the company’s strategy to implement sustainable solutions to further its support of clean energy usage.

According to a report by local news site PetrolNet, all installations are located on the roofs of the facilities, and the amount of energy they produce will allow savings of up to 50 percent per year. With this initiative, the previously mentioned sites have joined the Gorzów Wielkopolski which already generated power with these solutions.

“It's very important for us to have as little impact on the environment as possible, which is part of the ESG Strategy of the Unimot Group, within which we operate, and also increases the cost efficiency of our facilities. We are constantly analyzing the technical feasibility of deploying installations at more gas stations, as we want as many stations as possible to be equipped with their own source of green energy,” said Robert Nowek, Managing Director of the Avia network in Poland and Ukraine.

Avia Solar, a subsidiary of Unimot, is responsible for the development of the technology used at the different locations. The network of stations being developed by the Group, has 102 facilities throughout Poland. The company is also cooperating with the Spar chain to launch more Spar Express stores at the chain's stations.

“Photovoltaic installations are an excellent solution for facilities such as gas stations. As Avia Solar, we have already specialized in offerings for businesses and public facilities. We see that our customers are more and more willing to reach for solutions that fit the trend of reducing carbon emissions, while allowing them to become independent from rising energy prices,” added Karol Ilba, CEO of Unimot Energia i Gaz.

Stations under the Swiss brand operate mainly in medium-sized and small towns, such as Warsaw, Krakow, Poznan and Zakopane, among others. Avia aims to expand into major metropolitan areas and tourist destinations in the near future.
