English Español Aral, MOIA enter e-mobility deal in Hamburg

The fuel retailer will temporarily reserve exclusive ultrafast charging points for ridepooling provider MOIA at its charging hubs.

Last update:

Aral and ridepooling provider MOIA are entering into a cooperation in Hamburg, Germany, for ultrafast charging. With its fully electrified fleet, the latter’s vehicles have recently been recharging at the retailer’s pulse stations. In return, the bp German arm is initially making 300 kilowatt charging points exclusively reserved for MOIA available at two service stations.

The brand will reserve a charger with two plugs exclusively for MOIA vehicles at certain times. Both locations are Aral service stations located in Fuhlsbüttel and Barmbek-Süd, the second one going into operation on February 1.

For both companies, this cooperation is a sensible addition to their strategies. Aral has already been one of the leading providers of publicly accessible ultrafast charging stations since the fall of 2022 and aims to connect well over 5,000 charging points to its network by 2025.

"Through the cooperation with MOIA, we can sustainably increase the charging capacity utilization at the two Hamburg locations, which underpins our investment strategy in ultra-fast charging," said Alexander Junge, Board Member for E-Mobility at Aral.

MOIA's ridepooling service lets people share a vehicle whose origin and destination are in a similar direction. Customers send a ride request via an app and a dynamic pooling algorithm assigns them to an existing ride in a fraction of a second. The passenger is picked up and transported together with others on a completely dynamic route.
