Last update:

Saudi Arabia has closed 39 service stations due to violation of regulatory standards for refueling services.

According to a report by Gulf News, an investigation by the Permanent Executive Committee for Fuel Stations and Service Centers found that these locations had devices installed that altered the amount of fuel dispensed. These sites were found across 19 cities and governorates in the Kingdom.

These devices are against the Law of Calibration and Measurements as well as the Anti-Commercial Fraud Law by inaccurately adjusting the fuel volumes sold. The entity has initiated legal action against these stations and their personnel, which were referred to the Public Prosecution for further legal proceedings.

The Committee includes representatives from the Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing, and the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO).
