No cash, no card, no smartphone payments at 7-Eleven's first unmanned store in S. Korea

Customers can pay using their palm at the 7-Eleven Signature store located at Lotte World Tower in South Korea, reports The Korea Herald.

The premium smart convenience store uses the HandPay system which scans customers' veins for identification. The body part identification is linked to a preassigned credit card.

7-Eleven Signature, the first in the world and will be initially open exclusively to Lotte employees, features cutting edge innovation in the retail industry.

It has an unmanned counter capable of scanning bar codes from 360 degrees, a refrigerator the opens and shuts automatically, electronic price tags, a smart CCTV system, and a Smart Safe Cigarette Vending Machine.

Drones may also be used inside the store to prevent theft, reports Nikkei Asian Review.

7-Eleven Signature is operated by Korea Seven, a subsidiary of South Korean multinational Lotte Group.
