According to the report, nobody was in the car when it caught fire, while images from after the blaze reveal a totally burnt-out car.

The incident comes in the middle of expansion plans for electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla as it installs supercharging stations all across the globe. The company told NRK that the stations are perfectly safe, and that an extensive investigation would be carried out to identify the possible causes.

As most drivers do with their Tesla cars, the owner set the car up for charging and left. The Tesla Model S will take around 30 minutes for a complete charge at a Supercharger station, which provides around 170 miles of driving capacity.

Previous fire incidents with Tesla models were attributed to a puncture in the chassis and the battery back, which forced the company to install a reinforcing titanium underbody shield on all Model S cars, reports Extreme Tech.
